Here's the deal: For the last few (several?) months I've been trying to make a CTF mod based on UT's CTF gametype. After struggling with PlayerReplication for quite some time, I finally reached the conclusion that there were parts of the code that would be impossible to take from UT into Nerf. UT's PlayerReplication is just a tad bit more advanced than Nerf's. I discovered that two days ago.
Back when I first began to plan a CTF mod, I received a mail from Tux_the_Penguin mentioning an Unreal (the original Unreal, not UT) CTF mod called NnCTF. At the time I didn't think much about it, since it was much larger than the UT CTF code and much less efficient, probably containing 3000 more lines of code. However, with nothing else to turn to, I began looking at the NnCTF code to see if I could use it to develop a Nerf CTF mod.
It took over twelve hours in the past two days, but I have finally managed to get the new CTF code compiled. This puts me at a point slightly ahead of where I was with the UT CTF. PlayerReplication should not be a problem now, since the version of the UnrealEngine in Nerf is a slight improvement on Unreal 1's (whereas it was a slightly behind UT's). It still doesn't work perfectly, but I think I'm finally on the home stretch.
Now I shall go to sleep. The caffeine in my bloodstream is decreasing, and I'm feeling the aftermath of my coding splurge. I've got the ACT test on Saturday, and midterm exams begin next week, so sleep will be a necessity for a while at least.
Until next time....
