Here's some ideas I've been toying with (and some I've even started on):
- A Hall in honor of the Arena Champions--a shrine decorated with magnificent pillars and statues. An alternate version would show the effect of nature over hundreds of years on the once great temple. The statues are crumbled, and vines grow up the walls of this temple now hidden in the wilderness that has developed. ![]() ![]() - A Rockheads mining facility. The miners' tunnels are illuminated by the glow of the fiery lava as they dig deeper into the asteroid. Pipes transport the volcanic magma so that more precious substances can be extracted. ![]() ![]() - A canyon (partially inspired by PM-CanyonOutpost and UT's DM-Grotto). The pic shows the beginnings of the semi-realistic landscape, minus the foliage and details. ![]() - A tropical island souped up with Barracuda textures. I read Mutiny on the Bounty a while back (played Escape from Monkey Island, too) and this sort of setting stuck in my head. Natural looking islands would be tough to make. - A massively vertical Skyscraper map. Jumpads launching players hundreds of feet in the air would make for some great z-axis action. Might need a custom script to disable falling damage. - A crazy outerspace map with lots of jumpads. Sorta like DM-Injector or Q3's TheLongestYard, but crazier. - An Egyptian themed map. Pyramids, obelisks, sphinxes, heiroglyphics, and all of that jazz. All of the good textures are for UT or Serious Sam, though. |

Some more info on that Barracuda island idea I mentioned above:
![]() ![]() - Custom palm trees (by Rich "akuma" Eastwood) - Custom ocean sounds - Water that gently rises and falls Right now it's just a small "demo" map suitable only for tropical relaxation. I'm leaving for a week, but I might try further development when I get back. |

Yes, looks quite nice indeed :-). I assume you used Terraedit to generate the terrain? BTW, Tiggy, if you like, I'll host your site on mine at Tripod. I paid for my account, so I've got no popup ads or anything. I've also got plenty of space for whatever work you want to have available for download.

Some progress on Idea #7: Crazy Egyptian theme:
![]() ![]() It's tentatively titled PM-Khufu, and is basically a good-sized pyramid filled with ramps and ledges. I did most of the architecture and texturing this evening, which leaves inventory, lights, and botpaths left to add. I'm very pleased with the way this one is turning out, except that I haven't found a way to work in some obelisks. So SLAM, I think I will accept your gracious hosting offer. I really feel like I'm in the "mapping groove", which will make a host a necessity before too long. |

I can't stand the suspense...Looks like I could very well be replaced as top mapper ;-) but we need to see some released work to know for sure.
Actually, I've got a couple projects moving at the moment: Base Warfare: You all read about this one many times before. Now it's nearly done. I need to add some intermittent fortifications around and between the bases, and get all the satellite-based weaponry working perfectly. At this point, it's just a matter of laziness :-). [unnamed]: A space map, in the tradition, I suppose, of SpaceNoxx and Facing Worlds. It's in space with the skybox spinning, but I'm doing some incredible detailing to this one. Set in deep space somewhere, there are no planets visible, only galaxies and nebulae. Plenty of stars in in sight as well, of course, and I've got an extra see-through layer of them in the skybox for a better immensness effect. Perhaps the best part of this map will be the high-resolution images of actual cosmic objects. |

Speaking of maps, I've finally been working on one map, rather then jumping around several miscellaneous maps.
Anyways, it will feature all different areas themed after the Nerf teams. The Amateur portion is already finished and looking good (except for weapons and botpathing), and I'm working on the Seqoia part now. Just thought I'd keep everyone updated. EDIT: BTW, I got rid of my flash banner, for the sake of those whose computers get all jerky. |

Sounds good - just remember, the Moonlight area needs dancing girls!
I hope it is a bit less ambitious than Nerf Neighbourhood, as that has always been an unstable beast - only SLAM would have managed to get the Evening version to work (and the last time I went there, I crashed out going through a teleporter), and the other two versions, well, they've never been sorted out... |

thxs for being so considerate ace. I have my new computer built but not functioning at teh momment. First i installed windows 98 which worked but my audigy wasn't being used to full effect so I changed to Windows Me which did take full use of it on the rare occasion I didn't get a BSOD (blue screen of death) and now I have formatted it and just obtained windows XP which I will try.

I think that if someone rebuilt NN with different BSP settings, the map wouldn't crash. Just my theory, I have to try it out.
